"Mammy Knows Best” - Original Acrylic Painting

There’s a deeper meaning to this painting than you might think at first glance.

The big swallow represents my mum, and the three smaller ones are me and my two brothers. Each of us is carrying a Baby Guinness, while Mammy of course carries the full pint. She’s always led the way and somehow always knows what’s best for us.

I chose swallows because they remind me of home. They’re loyal birds, always returning to the same place year after year. That idea of being guided home felt right.

There’s a bit of humour in it, but also love, intuition, and that unshakable bond you feel with your mum, even when you're grown.

It’s a nod to Irish family life, the little rituals we all share, and that quiet wisdom only a mother seems to have.
